CommUnityFEST- 2009

Lancaster’s CommUnityFEST celebration will be held in and around downtown Lancaster’s Binns Park, from 12 Noon until 4 P.M. on Saturday September 12, 2009.

The Lancaster County Human Relations Commission’s Police and Community Committee will again host this annual happening that brings “First Responders, social service agencies and the community together for a great day of food, fun, music, and understanding.”

Everyone will have the opportunity to pet a police horse, see a fire truck up close, and talk with the various First Responders from throughout the county in a relaxed and fun setting. Our activities will include the Boys and Girls Club of Lancaster’s “Day for Kids” events that “Celebrate and honor America's children by spending meaningful time with them.” People of all ages will be amazed by the magical illusions of “Almar” from Ziggy's Magic Shop in Lancaster.

We will all get to enjoy the exciting entertainment being provided by great musical groups, including DC & Company and Sonora Los Fantasticos, who each feature a diverse mix of musical sounds and influences.

Once again, the event will feature a “Chili Cook-off”, pitting various public safety agencies against one another for a year of bragging rights, and the public has the honor of being the judges and sampling the great fare they have to offer. Our First Responders will also be involved in the entertainment in other surprising ways!

There will also be some fine and tasty food offered for sale by various local vendors.

This event is free and open to everyone. Parents are encouraged to bring their kids and kids to bring their parents for a day of fun and community building.
