Kendra Saunders, Vice-Chair
Committee persons are the backbone
of
the Democratic Party. Two committee persons are elected from each
precinct to serve four-year terms. They are responsible for
registering voters in their precinct, circulating nominating
petitions, distributing campaign materials, and getting out the
Democratic vote on Election Day. They also help to recruit and
nominate Democrats for local office.
To run as a
committee person for the primarily of 2010, candidates must
circulate a nominating petition beginning February 16th, get at
least ten signatures from registered...

It
is terribly disappointing losing any firefighters let alone the
youngest guys in the department. I think we can all agree that Fire
Fighting is a profession where younger individuals have an advantage
dealing with some of the physical stresses that are involved. Now,
I am not going to say that this is always the situation but for the
most part I think that is an accurate statement.

up for the 2010 LCDC Endorsement Convention
Each
year county Democrats gather to endorse candidates for the spring
Primary election. The 2010 LCDC Endorsement Convention will be held on
Feb. 20th at the Lancaster Host Resort.
The City Committee
encourages every committee person to attend this important convention.
Registration will begin at
8:00 AM. Candidates will be sponsor breakfast receptions.
The breakout session for
the City Committee people to meet to make an endorsement for the 96th
Legislative District will be at 1:20 pm.
Four workshops will be
featured in the morning - “Winning Your Precinct, Computer Sampler, How Not
To Do It All Yourself and It’s More than Just A Petition".
There is no charge for
attending this convention. Lunch will be served at a cost of $17.00
per person. Lunch reservations must be submitted to the office by
Saturday, Feb. 13th.
The general session to
endorse state legislative candidates, State Committee candidates, and
candidates for Governor, the U.S. Senate and U.S. Congress will begin
at noon.

in for his second term as Mayor of the City of Lancaster.

Kendra Saunders retired
from City Council in January of this year and her fellow council
members owe her a heartfelt thanks for her service on Council and
the City of Lancaster.

Gray and City Candidates Sweep
Lancaster City Elections...
Mayor Gray, the four
Democratic Council candidates, City Controller and Treasurer won in
yesterday's general election. Louise Williams, city counsel
president, Jose Urdaneta and Tim Roschel were reelected for a second
term on city council. Mayor Gray picked up a victory for a second
term as the city's mayor.
Cheryl Holland-Jones won
the Treasurer's post and E. William Andrews won the Controller's
spot.

Scheduled for March 20th
Because of the LCDC
Endorsement Convention is scheduled for Feb 20th, there will be no
City Committee meeting this month. We will meet at the convention to
endorse candidates.

meeting will be March 20th in the Underground at LCDC headquarters,
53 N. Duke St.
Gray and Democratic
Council Inaugural...
Supporters
filled City Council Chambers to watch Rick Gray, be sworn in for his
second term as Mayor of the City of Lancaster. Also taking the oath
of office were Treasurer Cheryl Holland-Jones, Controller Bill
Andrews, returning Council members Louise B. Williams, Jose
Urdaneta, Tim Roschel and new Council member Todd E. Smith.
Kendra Saunders attended her last
meeting as a member of City Council and thanked the crowd for their
support during her tenure. Having chosen not to run for re-election
Council woman Saunders worked to insure the election of Todd Smith
and the Democratic ticket. She has assumed the position
of Vice-Chair of the Lancaster City Democratic Committee.
The new Council, in their first
action, unanimously re-elected Council woman Williams as Council
President.
