Why I'm Proud To Be a
Democrat
Thomas R. Hassler,
Lancaster City
I am proud to be a Democrat. Because the Democratic Party
wants to get things done for the betterment of the people
of the United States. This includes providing the
opportunity for better health care for the American
people, improving the regulation of the financial markets,
expanding consumer protection, winding down the occupation
in Iraq, putting the Government in Afghanistan on notice
by giving a start date for American troop withdraw,
working to restart the middle east peace process and doing
all it can to stimulate the domestic economy during these
hard economic times. These are real problems that affect
people's physical health their economic welfare and their
sense of well being and they required action.
Taking
action entails accepting the risk for those actions. But doing
nothing is a luxury I don't think we can afford as a nation. For
those who are content to sit on the sidelines, to vote no over and
over on issue after issue this isn't about big government or deficit
spending, we already have the one and we were already doing the other,
this is about the next election. What a cynical way to deal with
America's problems
