A Reasonable on Marcellus Shale Gas
John A. Quatrini, Hatboro, PA

Kudos to Reps. Murt and Harper for breaking from the GOP party line and endorsing a reasonable tax on natural gas drilling. Virtually every other state taxes gas drilling, yet Governor Corbett and the GOP establishment refuse even a small tax on drilling.

I was perplexed as to why when we have a $4 billion deficit? But then the news surfaced that the Gas industry gave Gov. Corbett and other Republican lawmakers over one million dollars in campaign contributions as well as other "gifts'. They claim this didn't influence their decision to not tax that industry.

Really?? Just how dumb do they think we are? Before the Governor proposes drastic cuts in vital services to reduce the deficit, he and the GOP must reverse their opposition to taxing gas drilling.

Please contact Gov. Corbett and your legislators to demand they do the right thing.

Every business pays taxes. Why should gas drillers be exempt??
