Dear Democrats:
As you know, the workers at Kellogg’s are on strike at the local plant and Battle Creek Michigan. They are member of the Bakery, Confectioners, Tobacco and Grain Millers Union Local 374G. They called the strike because the company is refusing to bargain with them in good faith, they are demanding major take-aways when the company is making record profits and are threatening to move their jobs to Mexico if members do not accept their demands.
As Democrats we must show our support! Our democratic values and vision for a just society is at stake. The Lancaster County Democratic Committee stands with the union members and their fight for justice and a decent living standard. If you are asking how we can help, there are many ways. Stop by the 24-hour picket line on State Roard, introduce yourself as a Democrat in Lancaster County and tell them you support them. Go to the union’s website (www.bctgm374g.org) and make an easy donation. Bring them water and snacks. Write a letter to the editor in LNP. Our presence and acts of support will be appreciated.
Let us not stand on the sidelines while these workers are fighting for their lives. Demand the company bargains in good faith and the parties can return to the bargaining table. Let us make sure this strike is a short one. Let’s help the workers get back to work!
In Unity.
