The unthinkable
If Doug Mastriano, the Republican candidate for Governor of Pennsylvania, wins in November, he’ll make abortion illegal in the Commonwealth. And Republicans won’t stop there, Senator Bob Casey warned in a tweet, “Make no mistake – this is not the end goal, it’s just the beginning. Republicans in Congress want to pass federal legislation to completely ban abortion.”
Women in Pennsylvania still have the right to choose because Governor Tom Wolf (D) will veto any legislation banning or restricting abortions. However, if PA women want to keep their right to abortion past November, they must vote for PA Attorney General Josh Shapiro, the Democratic Candidate, for Governor.
“This is a devastating day in America,” Shapiro posted on Twitter. “A woman’s right to choose now depends on the state in which she lives.” In PA, he added, that “decision will be made by our next Governor.” If elected, Shapiro will keep abortion legal.
In a Twitter post, Lt. Governor John Fetterman, Democratic Candidate to U. S. Senate, deemed the Supreme Court’s decision as “unjust” and “wrong.” If he’s elected to the U.S. Senate in November, Fetterman would “proudly vote to codify Roe V. Wade into law.”
“Our daughters and granddaughters should not grow up with fewer rights than their mothers,” Casey tweeted. It’s clear, the only way to protect a woman’s right to choose in Pennsylvania is to vote for Josh Shapiro for Governor and John Fetterman for U.S. Senate in November!
