We’re deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Randolph Carney, one of LCDC’s long-time committee people, a loyal community servant, and a champion of quality public education.
A statement from Superintendent Dr. Damaris Rau and School Board President Dr. Edith Gallagher:
On Saturday, we learned of the sudden passing of school director Randolph Carney. During his eight years of board service, Mr. Carney was a tireless advocate for the School District of Lancaster, our students, staff and taxpayers. He had a passion for school construction, ensuring our students have the modern facilities for learning they deserve. He pushed the board and administration to find new efficiencies to ensure we maximize taxpayer resources to benefit students. Mr. Carney was a proud graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, also attending Wickersham Elementary and Lincoln Middle School.
On a personal note, Randy was an extremely kind man and an excellent colleague. His wealth of experience, his thoughtful and caring approach, and his gentle nature will be sorely missed.
On behalf of the board of directors and our school district community, we send our deepest condolences to Mr. Carney’s wife, Pam, and their family. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers at this time.
