Open Letter For Lloyd Smucker

Jun 1, 2018 | In the News

Lloyd Smucker, I won’t address you as representative because it has become obvious you don’t represent me or 99 percent of what I believe in.

According to the April 7 article “Event to keep focus on guns, safety,” you wouldn’t be attending the “Town Hall for Our Lives” on April 8. You say you have “spoken extensively” on the need to keep our kids safe; however you omit the fact that these are invitation-only events so you can control who gets in to participate. Your spokesman said that you’re “unlikely to participate in events organized by paid liberal activists.” Just because you say something doesn’t make it true — where’s your proof for these “paid activists”?

Beyond that, you’re to be representing all of us, not just those who agree with President Donald Trump’s twisted world view.

In other business, here is a partial list of House bills on which you have voted yes. Some of these bills restrict or eliminate the Environmental Protection Agency’s ability to manage/control air, water and land pollution. They are: HR 26, 21, 5, 1004, 998, 1430, 1431, 38, 71, 36 and 69.

Last but of equal importance is HR 10, which guts the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act. You know, the law that is designed to prohibit the kinds of underhanded shenanigans that brought about the Great Recession?

Oh well, you all got your money back. At the very least you could have said thanks.
