Democrats Elect New Lancaster County Leadership Team
(Mountville, PA, June 8) – Lancaster County Democratic Committee’s (LCDC) membership unanimously elected Tom G. O’Brien to be the County’s new party chair during their first in-person meeting in over two years.
A lifelong Democrat, O’Brien has served as a Democratic Committee Person for more than twenty years. He has also served as a Manheim Township School Board Director and Township Commissioner.
At this critical time in national and local politics, Democrats need a leader with O’Brien’s political and professional business experience. During his acceptance speech, he said, his focus will be on uniting the county’s Democrats and leading the “fight for working people.” He wants to fight for issues that are important to everyone: healthcare, women’s right to make healthcare decisions, fair elections, and protecting democracy. A key goal of the Democratic Party is “to make the American Dream possible for everyone, no matter their race, gender identity, sexual orientation, or nationality,” he said.
During last night’s meeting at the Mountville Area Community Center, LCDC membership also unanimously elected Kristy Moore of Elizabethtown to be Vice Chair, Cheryl D. Holland-Jones of Lancaster to be Treasurer, and Brad Bergman of Lititz to be Secretary. Speaking for the entire new leadership team, Kristy Moore said LCDC wants “to make Lancaster County a place that works for everyone.”
O’Brien replaces outgoing chair, Diane Topakian, who was elected via special election in January 2020.
